Access to Ration Cards & Public Food Distribution System
 By rule no one can get a Ration Card without documentary evidence, to prove their permanent residence, by local self-governance members or government offices. As quarry workers are migrants they are denied ration cards. On 9th Nov. 2000 the Right was given for 'Unorganized Workers' to receive Ration Cards without producing documentary evidence.
Over 1200 ration cards have been distributed in the Pune and Satara districts to stone quarry workers allowing them to receive the benefits of the Public Food Distribution System. Over 5000 applications are pending with Govt. offices in Pune and Kolhapur districts.
